To meet the enormous challenges arising from China's entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO),China's four big state banks need to reform and adjust themselves to the new market and new rivals.The timetable for opening up China's banking sector gives them a chance to do this.This paper analyzes the characteristics of the stages and the strategies which may be adopted by foreign banks,and puts forward the counter-measures of China's state banks,on how to give free play to their advantages , enhance their technological level and improve their managerial ability.
