A new technology for synthesis of methanesufonic acid was studied. Methane sulfonyl chloride is first prepare by reacting dimethyl disulfide which is prepared with sodium sulfide, sulfur and dimethyl sulfate with chlorine. And then methanesufonic acid which is colorless and oderless is obtained by the hydrolysis of methane sulfonyl chloride at 70~90℃. The content of methanesulfonic acid is above 98%, and the concentration of ions of sulfate and chloride are below 20 mg/L.
