水远山长路多花——尹赞勋院士诞辰100周年纪念

PROFESSOR YIN ZANXUN'S PROFOUND AND PROLIFIC LIFE

今年是尹赞勋院士诞辰 1 0 0周年 ,以此文来纪念尹先生对中国地质事业所做出的功绩。尹先生是中国最伟大的地质学家之一 ,他博学多才 ,不仅仅在古生物学 ,而且还在地质学的其他分支中做出了巨大的贡献。他是第一个在法国学习古生物学并获得博士学位的中国学者 ,而且他还是中国第四纪地质研究的开创者之一。他第一个发掘和研究了中国洞穴沉积以外的第四纪地层和化石 ;他对大同火山、镜泊湖、北京房山云水洞的研究都是原创性的 ,成为后世研究的楷模 ;他主编的中国地层表和中国地层表续编是广大地质工作者的必读书籍。此外 ,尹先生是第一个向中国介绍板块构造的学者。尹赞勋先生始终认为创新是科学研究的原动力 ,他帮助和鼓励年轻人学习 ,并且与他们分享他自己的资料和观点。我认为尹赞勋先生不仅仅是地质学家的杰出代表 ,而且是他同时代学者的杰出代表。

This year is the 100 th anniversary of Prof. Zanxun Yin(尹赞勋)'s birth. Prof. Yin is one of the greatest geologists in China. He is versatile in geosciences,so we could not mention him merely a palaeontologist,stratigrapher and so on. He is the first Chinese Ph. D to study palaeontology in France,and he is a forerunner of Quaternary Geology in China. He had studied volcanos in Datong,Jingbo Lake,and Yunshui Cave in Fangshan. He was taken as the authority in stratigraphy not only for his compilation of stratigraphic table in China,the Bible of Chinese stratigraphers,but for his ideas of stratigraphic research. Prof. Yin introduced'plate tectonics theory'and 'orogeny phases'into China firstly.\;Prof. Yin believed that continuous innovation was the only driving force of speeding scientific research progress. He always helped young colleagues and encouraged them study hardly. He was glad to share his knowledge with them. He was fond of exchanging scientific ideas with young colleagues. \;I believe that Prof. Yin was not only an outstanding geologist but also the typical representative of his contemporary colleagues in China.
