A BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO PRINCIPLE OF UPFC INSTALLED IN INEZ SUBSTATION OF AEP SYSTEM

统一潮流控制器(UPFC)是灵活交流输电系统(FACTS) 中功能最强、最有应用前景的一种控制系统。文中介绍了由美国AEP、EPRI和西屋电气公司共同研制的UPFC装置的原理、性能特点及其应用,并与常规控制装置进行了比较。该装置的功能包括电压调整、串联补偿、相角调整及多功能潮流控制等。它能增加电力传输容量,提供电压支撑,从而提高了输电系统的可靠性。

In the FACTS the unified power flow controller (UPFC) is such a kind of controller which possess powerful functions including voltage adjustment, series compensation, phase angle regulation and multi-functional power flow control, and good application prospect in the future. In this paper the principle, features and application of the UPFC, which is jointly developed by AEP, EPRI and Westinghouse Co. and installed in Ines substation of AEP, are described. Using UPFC the transmitted capacity can be increased and with the help of voltage support provided by UPFC the reliability of the transmission system in this region can be improved.
