Meizhou women,together with those of Hui＇an and Xunbu are three featured groups of Fujian fisherwomen who are well- known for their pretty and distinctive hairstyles and headwear. Meizhou women＇s ＂ Sail- like Bun＂,also called ＂ Mazu Bun＂,is a classic symbol of marine culture which is said to be created by Mazu LIN Mo- niang according to the legend. This paper interprets the features of Meizhou women＇s hairstyle and its function as a symbol of marine culture. ＂ Mazu Bun＂ carries the fisherwomen＇s piety and worship in Mazu and conveys their yeaning for a better life.
