当代西方文化思潮下韦努蒂翻译理论属性研究

An Investigation into the Theoretical Attributes of Venuti's Translation Theory in the Background of Contemporary Western Thinking in Culture

韦努蒂的翻译理论给中国的翻译研究带来了异化新风,也带来了理论解读的困惑。在韦努蒂理论的学说属性上,中国学界出现了解构主义、文化研究学派和综合视角的不同解读,这些争议的背后折射出当前解读视角和方法的局限性,宏观有余,微观不足。论文旨在以文本研究为基础,将其置于当代西方文化研究的背景下,通过对理论文本的微观比较研究,分析理论的构建基础、研究方法论和内在逻辑,进而运用翻译社会学的理论论述其社会学转向特征,以期深化对韦努蒂翻译理论的认识,并以此获得解读当代西方翻译理论的某种启示。遵循上述方法,研究结果表明韦努蒂的翻译理论体系具有典型的当代西方文化思想特征,体现出明显的翻译社会学的研究视角和取向。

Venuti＇s translation theory contributes to the confusion about the interpretation of the theory as well as the shift of focus to foreignization in translation studies in China. Venuti＇s theory is labeled as deconstruction, school of cultural studies and integrated per- spectives by Chinese scholars in terms of theoretical categorization. Beneath these disputes, these different interpretations refract the limits of the present research perspectives and methods, signaling adequate research in the macro sense but inadequate in the micro sense. The purpose of the article is to deepen our understanding of Venuti＇s theory for some en- lightenment in interpreting contemporary western translation theories through the interpreta- tion necessarily based on the textual analysis, set in the background of western thinking in culture, and conducted by comparative studies of its theoretical basis, methodology and logic in the micro sense, and further through the interpretation of its sociological turn in the perspective of translation sociology. Following the above strategy, this study shows the result that the system of Venuti＇s theory is characterized by the typical features of contemporary western thinking in culture, manifesting an evident sociological perspective and orientation.
