当代西方翻译文学中的中国镜像、意识形态及改写——以《天堂蒜薹之歌》的英译本为例 被引量:9

摘要 莫言小说在国际文坛的成功,很大程度上也是源于翻译的成功,葛浩文作为莫言最重要的译者,虽然得到莫言的高度赞扬,但他不够忠实的归化、甚至自由增删、改写的译法并非全无非议。事实上,葛浩文代表西方读者的视角,阅读莫言小说时,难免带着西方现代文化的优越感和对异质文化的焦虑感,构建以意识形态区分为核心的异质的中国镜像。从《天堂蒜薹之歌》的英译本的个案分析可以看出,"中国镜像"影响着小说英译从选本到翻译策略运用的全过程。外来文化的接受从来就是个依语境的重建过程,其复杂程度远不止忠实与否的选择。 The success of Mo Yan's novels in the international literature is largely due to the translation.Goldblatt,as Mo Yan's most important translator,is highly appreciated by Mo Yan. But his not-faithful-enough domestication,free addition and deletion and even rewriting are not without criticism. In fact,Goldblatt represents the Western readers' perspective. While reading Mo Yan's novels,he inevitably builds up Chinese image based on the difference in ideology with a sense of cultural superiority and cultural anxiety. A case study on The Garlic Ballads shows that Chinese image influence the whole translation process from the choice of the source text to the translation strategies. The acceptance of foreign culture has always been a reconstruction process according to the context,whose complexity is far more than being faithful or not.
