ZHU Xiang's Contribution to the Development of Vernacular Poetry

朱湘善于用诗歌来叙事状物、抒情表意,充分表达了一个现代知识分子对社会、人生、自然的真切感受,从而为新诗注入了现代内容;他还注重对我国古代诗词歌赋文学传统的继承和发展,为新诗的民族化以及新诗诗体建设进行了积极有益的探索;他在致力于新诗民族化的同时,还努力让新诗同西方现代诗接轨,为白话新诗的世界化与现代化作出了重要贡献。

ZHU Xiang＇s skillful use of poetry for narration,description and emotional expression reflected a contemporary intellectual＇s true feelings about society,life and nature,thus injecting contemporary contents into vernacular poetry. He also paid much attention to inheriting and developing the literary traditions of verses,ditties,odes and songs in ancient China,carrying out active and useful exploration of vernacular poetry＇s style building as well as its nationalization. Meanwhile,he tried his best to integrate vernacular poetry with western modern poetry,making great contributions to the globalization and modernization of vernacular poetry.
