The Colonial Complex Reflected from Look Back in Anger

《愤怒的回顾》中,剧中男主人公吉米对东方民族怀有仇恨心理、对殖民主义者抱有同情之心,而雷德福上校却沉迷于对往昔殖民岁月的缅怀。剧中人物的这些民族偏见、殖民思想在不同程度上折射出了他们自己以及作家的殖民情结,而剧中对这两个男性形象的直观描述却直接体现了作家的殖民情结。所有的这一切皆源于当时的历史背景。

Jimmy Porter,the male protagonist in Look Back in Anger harbors hatred towards oriental nation and a sympathy for the colonists,while Colonel Redfern is indulged in memory of the old colonial days. These racial prejudices and colonial ideas owned by the characters in this play to some degree reflect their own colonial complex and that of the playwright. Yet the intuitive description of the two male characters directly reflects the writer＇s colonial complex. All of these are resulted from the historical background at that time.
