民族高校图书馆开展社会化信息服务是民族地区社会发展的需求,对民族高校培养国家建设人才及图书馆自身发展有着特殊的意义。民族高校图书馆是开展社会化信息服务的主体,应以自身优势、特色资源为主,积极参与民族地区文献信息资源建设。民族高校社会化信息服务实质就是依托现有资源和条件开发民族文献、地方文献、机构知识库等信息资源,为全体社会成员提供便利的服务。
