摘要
美国学者苏珊·布什的专著《中国文人论画:从苏轼到董其昌》在第二章"苏轼"一节在对苏轼画论的研究中引用、鉴赏了苏轼的题画诗、文共21种。作为一位儒家学者,苏轼关注的主要是艺术家的性格。在他看来,只有像文与可那样的高人才能将自己的本性与竹之本性相融,并能得到足够的启发去识别万物应有之道。苏珊指出,苏轼观点中的任何显而易见的前后矛盾之处都必须考虑到这样一个事实,那就是,这些论画的诗和文都是为某些特定的画而作的,并且已经过去了一定的时期了。
In "Su Shih", which is in the second chapter of Susan Bush's monograph The Chinese Literati on Painting: Su Shih (1037-1101) to Tung Chi-ch'ang (1555-1636), the author quotes and ap- preciates 21 kinds of Su Shih's poems or literary writings on his own or others' paintings. As a Confucian scholar, Su is mainly concerned with the character of the artist. In his opinion, only a superior man like Wen Yti-k'o can fuse his nature with that of bamboo and be enlightened enough to discern the way things should be. Susan points out, any apparent inconsistencies in Su Shih's thought must be attributed to the fact that these poems and colophons were written for specific paintings and done over a period of years.
