In Blood Meridian,Cormac McCarthy represents the Mexican-American border space in the gothic vein to deconstruct the American frontier myth.The extension of the frontier is in accord with American imperial expansionism disguised in the discourse of'Manifest Destiny'.The West,void of feminine influence and redemptive power of civilization,is no longer the site where the American Adam could regenera^te his manhood and grow with freedom,but where violence,terror and chaos reign.
