公示语英译的主要问题及其英译策略

Problems of Chinese Public Signs' Translation and Their Translation Strategies

通过对公示语的调查分析发现,公示语的英译存在诸多问题,比如具有明显的中式英语特征,译文不准确或不地道。文章在分析这些问题的基础上提出应该在英译公示语时参照平行文本,接着提出相关翻译策略。英译公示语时译者应该将目标语读者的阅读期待和习惯放在中心位置,才能使译文得到他们的认同而产生与原文相同的效果。

Based on the survey of public signs, the authors find that there are quite a few problems in the translation of Chinese public signs, such as the Chinglish expressions. On the basis of analyzing these problems, the paper points out that the translators should refer to parallel texts when translating, and then some translation strategies are put forward. Translators should pay most attention to target language readers＇ reading expectations and habits when translating Chinese public signs and only this can make the translations be accepted by them and achieve the same effect.
