This article describesthe concept and development of environmental carrying capacity ,and futher e-laborates the characteristics and influencing factors of environmental carrying capacity .By searching the lit-erature ,it summarizes various quantitative methods of the environmental carrying capacity ,and introduces the main methods .Moreover ,it discusses the problems ofthe environmental carrying capacityresearchby col-lectingsomeapplication examples .Currently ,the research still lack scientific and systemic index systemto sim-ultaneously describe objectivity regional dynamics of environmental carrying capacity ,andalso lack a unified environmental carrying capacity evaluation index system and evaluation model ;the evaluation methods are short of innovation .In the future ,within the framework of sustainable development ,the research should fullu usethe theories ofenvironmental science and other related disciplines ,andgradually build asoundaccurate envi-ronmental carrying capacity quantitative evaluation methodology .
