摘要
政治和文化交叉领域的已有研究主要集中在中国共产党建国之前或在"文革"期间进行的文艺改造。而本文研究建国初期(50年代初)的革命文化,认为中国共产党发起的土改和其他的国家建设运动实为政治和文化的结合。文章通过审视中南区湖北农村剧团的发展,探讨中国共产党领导下的国家如何通过群众运动发展文化馆(站)网络,依次组织建立全省的农村业余剧团,并以此作为改造地方文化的手段,以加强对地方的渗透,从而进行国家政权建设。文章同时也指出了民间文艺和民间艺术家与中共革命的意识形态之间存在的矛盾和冲突。
Scholarship on the intersection of politics and culture has typically focused on the pre-1949 rise to power of the Chinese Communist Party or on the Cultural Revolution.This article investigates revolutionary culture during the early 1950s by exploring the early years of the PRC,arguing that state-building had cultural as well as political components.By focusing on the development of rural drama troupes in Hubei province within the Zhongnan region,this article reveals how the Communists developed a network of cultural centers,which in turn organized amateur rural drama troupes throughout the province.This rural drama movement allowed the Communists ever greater access to the countryside,greatly contributing to state-building projects.This article also considers the inherent contradictions between folk artists and the Communists revolutionary program.
