李梦阳一生曾五次入狱,在江西广信则是第四次。这次事件后李梦阳被官场完全抛弃,而他也对仕途万念俱灰,走上了以文学创作为主的人生道路。广信狱的过程纠葛重重,是数次入狱中对李梦阳精神打击最大的一次。江西生员对他行为的支持,成为勘官畏惧和忌恨李梦阳、并不断加罪于他的最重要的原因。李梦阳和生员在广信狱斗争中的集体失败,也促使了他对官场的完全失望和决绝地离开。
