五四时期,《新青年》上围绕以京戏为代表的"旧戏"问题展开激烈论争,一方是师长辈的《新青年》编辑同仁,一方以学生辈的张厚载为代表。世纪初的这场论争,对二十世纪中国戏剧与戏曲产生深远影响,文章对这场论争的背景、人物及论争过程进行了详细梳理与考察,力图在历史现场的还原中再现论争的来龙去脉,为人们进一步深入反思这一论争提供基础。
During the May 4th Movement, an intense debate on the " old play "with Beijing opera as the representative was launched in New Youth between the editors in New Youth and the students with Zhang Houzai as the representative. This debate at the beginning of this century has a far-reaching influence on Chinese drama and opera in the twentieth century. This paper makes a detailed study of the background, characters and process of the debate, trying to reproduce the sequence of events, and provides a basis for further reflection on the controversy.
