A Metaphoric Perspective on the Similarities and Differences between Chinese and English Scientific Languages

科技是人类认知能力的集中表现,科技语言最能表现人类隐喻化的思维方式。从隐喻视角入手研究中英科技语言,发现在词汇,语法,语义和语篇层面两种语言的表意深刻受到各自文化隐喻思维的影响。探寻中英两种语言在隐喻思维方面的异同,能更为准确理解中英科技语言差异的规律和特点,并发现英语在科技语言表征上具有的先天优势,从而为提高中英科技翻译效率和准确性提供参考。

Science is the centralized reflection of human＇s cognitive ability. Scientific language is an embodiment of human＇s metaphoric thinking. From the view of metaphor,the author analyzes four aspects of scientific language： lexicon,grammar,semantics and text,and argues that all the differences between Chinese and English languages are influenced deeply by their own unique metaphoric thinking. These differences can help us find the basic rules and features of Sino-English scientific translation and the unique advantage of English in scientific field.
