The traditional painting is an important part of modem art. In art revolution thought Chen Shaomei as the repre- sentative of the traditional painters, insisted on defending the quintessence of Chinese culture, carrying forward the inherent culture. In the process of transformation from traditional painting to modem fine art, subject art spirit has been inherited, carrying forward the national characteristics. Chen Shaomei＇s creative practice and achievement in education has made im- portant contributions to the development of Chinese painting, leaving precious enlightenment for later generations.
