摘要
《尚书·益稷》中的"华虫"究竟为何物?本文通过甲骨文等出土文献材料和典籍中的有关线索对其进行探究,认为"华虫"可能是"虹"。"虹"可能是"华虫"的合音兼义词。
There is a huge debate in scholarship regarding the meaning ofhuachong mentioned in the Yiji Chapter of the Book of Documents . Through synthesizing oracle bones and other unearthed texts as well as evidence in transmitted texts, the author proposes that this term means rainbow and the word itself is a compound through combining the pronunciation of and meanning hua and chong.
