In August 1945, a train slowed down as it approached Kunming Station, in southwestern China＇s Yunnan Province. Chinese soldiers were on that train; the soldiers were returning home after they defeated Japanese invaders in the Battle of Myitkyina （which took place in the border area of Yunnan Province and North Myanmar, and which lasted from March to August, in 1944）.
