折扇,是扇子的一种,它既是一种实用的工具,又是一件艺术品。折扇最不易做好的是扇骨,而一柄真正上品的扇骨需要工艺师高超的手艺。在全国各地的制扇业中,以苏杭扇最具特色,名声也最为显赫。苏州的水墨竹骨折扇大多系文人用扇,气息清雅：杭州的黑纸扇则偏重于大众化。苏州是扇子的产地,自古以来扇庄汇集,高手辈出。如今,苏州尚有继承传统制扇绝技者,徐义林便是其中的一位。
