16、17世纪的英国之所以能在社会基本稳定的背景下成功实现社会转型,社区认同的巩固是一个很重要的因素。从伦敦的经历来看,仪典在推进堂区认同、实现社会稳定方面起过大的作用。在人口规模快速膨胀、教堂仪典资源不足的情况下,伦敦堂区仪典仍能维持较高的参与水平。究其原因,除了宗教虔诚的基本因素之外,还有新富阶层对社会权力的追求、贫民阶层对慈善救济的需求等新因素的作用。
