A novel and efficient route was introduced to synthesize cyclobutenones developed via an intramolecu-lar annulation reaction of α - propionyl ketene - S,S - acetals under base conditions, DMSO as reaction solvent. 3 new compounds were synthesized and confirmed by 1 HNMR.
