摘要
《无名的裘德》是哈代最后一部也是最有争议的一部小说。哈代在小说中塑造的小时光老人长期得不到重视,即便提到评论界也认为哈代塑造的这个人物是不可信的,尤其是他最后杀死弟妹和自杀的行为。从功利主义角度采用例证的方法来解读小时光老人最后的抉择,可以分析出他采取这一行为的原因,由此可以揭示出其行为背后所暴露出来的儿童抚养问题和教育问题,具有一定现实意义。
Jude the Obscure is the last but the most controversial novel of Hardy. Litter Father Time that Hardy described inthis novel has been ignored for a long time. Even when he was mentioned, critics considered that this character Hardy de-scribed was unbelievable, especially his behavior that he eventually killed Jude＇s two children and himself. This paper tried toexplain Litter Father Time＇s choice from the perspective of utilitarianism with detail examples taken from the novel and ana-lyzed the reason of his last choice. Hence this paper intended to reveal the problem of children忆s support and education, whichhas some realistic significance.
