Interpreting is a typical cross -cultural communication activity .If we can understand and avoid cross -cultural pragmatic failure, the quality of interpreting can be improved and the success of cross -cultural communication can be guaranteed . Under the guidance of the theory of pragmatic failure , this paper discusses the phenomena of pragmatic failure in interpreting , ana-lyze its causes and find out some coping strategies .
