摘要
《墙中门》是尤以创作科幻小说著称的英国小说家赫伯特·乔治·威尔斯的一篇奇想短篇小说。拟以该小说的特殊表现形式—"奇想小说"为依托,以主人公华莱士的成长为线索,通过对比在"梦幻花园"内外,主人公成长过程三要素,即成长环境、成长领路人及成长仪式的存在和缺失,揭示了英国工业革命带来的成长问题及其对现代文明生活方式的严重影响。
The Door in the Wall is a short story by H ＆#183; G＆#183; Wells, the renowned British novelist known for his science fictions . Based on the unique genre of this short story , namely fantasy novel and Buildungsroman , and through the analysis of the three as-pects of Buildungsroman , the living environment the mentor and the initiation , this essay attempts to reveal the initiation problem a-roused by the industrial revolution , which in turn asserts a considerable influence on modern way of life .
