三十多年前中国改革开放初期，有两位充满着无限智慧和卓识眼光的老人一次又一次在北京相见，他们谈论着中国的发展，设计着香港的未来，描给着宁波这座小城的建设。他们是中国改革开放的总设计师邓小平先生和我外祖父包玉刚先生。追抚古今，饮水思源，此时此刻，我们更加怀念一代伟人邓小平先生，更加怀念为了国家和宁波发展作出卓越贡献的包玉刚先生。我作为包玉刚先生的外孙，能够参加今天纪念邓小平“把全世界宁波帮都动员起来建设宁波”指示发表三十周年座谈会，感到十分高兴和荣幸。
In the early days of China's reform and opening up policy initiated, there were two wise old men seeing a great deal of each other in Beijing, discussing and planning the development of China, the future of Hong Kong, and the construction of Ningbo. One of them was Deng Xiaoping, the general designer of the reform and opening up policy in China, and the other was my maternal grandfather, Yue-Kong Pao. As a descendant of 'Ningbo Merchants', I was greatly impressed by my maternal grandfather's patriotism and strong social responsibility. He has always been and will be the role model in my life.
