地区民族主义政党在推动英国分权化改革中起到了重要的作用,也为少数民族争取到了很大的权利,但是,在中央向地方分权之后,民族主义政党往往容易在地方议会获得多数,如果中央与地方缺乏稳固的联系,就会出现权力失衡的情况,那些有独立要求的民族主义政党,也会成为国家统一的威胁。未来,主要政党在地方议会的表现,将在很大程度上塑造着地方与中央关系,地方议会中的政党政治也在很大程度上影响着一个多民族的英国国家建设的走向。

Regional nationalist parties play an important role in promoting the reform of decentralization in Britain, and they also protect the rights of minorities. After the decentralization, however, nationalist parties often enjoy majority in local councils. If central and local governments lack of solid contacts, there will be situations of power imbalance. And nationalist parties, who have independent requirements, would become the threat of national unification. In the future, the performance of main political parties in the local parliament will largely shape the relations between central and local governments, and the party politics in local councils will also influence the state - building of the multinational Britain.
