北美汉学的中国文论研究保持了一种比较宏阔的文化批评理论视野以及"新历史主义"的话语倾向。受新文化史研究方法影响的汉学研究不再强调从文本中获取什么经验、启示和教训,更不像传统的批评方法那样去发掘文本中存在的道德镜鉴、政治得失,而是突出显示来自于社会学、人类学、文化学的启示,有意识地将人文学科与社会科学研究方法加以交融汇通。

Cultural criticism and new historicism discourse are wildly used by north American sinologists when they are doing their research in the field of Chinese literary theories. They neither no longer pay more attention to get some experience , inspiration and lessons nor to explore moral and political issues from the text itself. What they think most important is to study Chinese text from by means of the confu sion of study methods of both humanities and social science.
