Military Supplies Preparation for 1894 Land War

“兵马未动，粮草先行”。后勤保障是支持战争的必要条件。甲午战争初期。李鸿童等人寄望于英、美、俄等西方列强出面调停，战和不定，贻误了先机。1894年7月25日，丰岛海战爆发，日本不宣而战：清朝政府被迫仓促应战，甲午战争开端。1894年8月11日，光绪皇帝下旨正式对日宣战，各种军事准备随即全面展开。

On July 25,1894,Japan started an undeclared war.On August 1,1894,Emperor Cuangxu declared war on Japan.The Sino-Japanese War began.With that,a variety of military preparations went into full swing.The Qing army was defeated in the Battle of Pyongyang,and the whole country was Shocked at the news.A total of 14 500-soldier battalions were to be raised.As soon as one battalion was full,it would be immediately dispatched to defend the Yalu River.According to statistics,large numbers of drafted levies were added to the line of defense along the Yalu River,with the total number of soldiers rising to 34,000,equipped with over 90 cannons,by October 1894.
