《鹿鼎记》英译本中的语境重构与译者显形

The Dear and the Cauldron: Context Reinvented and the Translator's Role Reconsidered

本文通过分析《鹿鼎记》的英译本The Deer and the Cauldron中的一些实例,证明了翻译中所谓的"译者隐形"其实是一种幻象。在实际翻译的过程中,语言与文化的差异决定了译者在对译文进行语境重构时必须要充分"显形",理解的能动性和译者作为译文文本创造者的话语权又使得译者在翻译过程中主体性的发挥成为可能。因而必须承认,翻译的过程其实是译者发挥主体性进行创造性劳动的过程。

By analyzing The Deer and the Cauldron, the English version of Lu Ding Ji., this paper aims to substantiate that rather than being ＂invisible＂ as often required, the translator is in fact highly ＂visible＂ in a translation. The linguistic and cultural differences make it necessary for the translator to be ＂visible＂, and his/her role as the author of the translation erables him/her to express his/her subjectivity. Therefore, it must be recognized that the translating process is one in which the translator＇ s subjective creativity is some- thing unavoidable.
