The properties and ingredients of shift gas of light hydrocarbon -steam reformer hydrogen generation plant were mainly introduced.The conventional cooling process of shift gas was also presented.Through analyzing the change of shift gas state in the course of cooling process, the key point of piping design was put forward, which included the layout of equipments, the arrangement of piping, the corrosion mechanism of lines and corresponding material selection etc.
