Some safety and energy saving technologies for an ammonia cold storage in UK is introduced based on author＇s field inspection. By means of a series of new technologies for reducing charge of refrigerant, the ammonia charge is greatly reduced and the system security is improved. The operating efficiency can be improved by using new techniques, including autocontrol, defrost on demand, heat recovery for the underfloor heater mat and reasonable configuration of air coolers.
