On the Understanding of Formal Logic:Reviews and Assessments of the Heated Discussion upon Logic Issues from 1956 to 1961

1956年《新建设》杂志发表周谷城先生的《形式逻辑与辩证法》,引发了一场持续数年之久的逻辑学问题大讨论。这场学术争鸣,在当时的哲学、逻辑学界产生了较大影响。今天看来,周先生有关文章的观点基本上是正确的,当时的一系列批评文章,囿于历史的局限,均存在这样或那样的缺陷和不足之处。回顾和评析新中国1956—1961年逻辑学问题大讨论,对我国今后逻辑学的发展和逻辑史的研究是有积极意义的。

In 1956, the New Construction published ＂Formal Logic and Dialectics＂ by Zhou Gucheng, which intrigued years of heated discussions on logic issues. This academic argument made a big difference in the philosophical and logic circles at that time. Reexamined at present, the ideals in Zhou＇s relevant articles are essentially appropriate. Due to the confinement of the times, series of critical articles at that time all have one kind or other shortcomings. So it has positive significances in China＇ s further development of logics and logic history research to review and assess the heated discussion upon the logic issues from 1956 to 1961.
