＂Dan Ying Collection＂ is a novel with odd features by Fan Xingrong of Guizhou Province in the Qing Dynasty. This paper studies its ideas and artistic values through ＂Dragon Palace＇ s exam disturbance＂ in Volume 3 of ＂Dan Ying Collection＂, pointing out its satirical significance and revealing the shortcomings and cheatings in the Qing Dynasty＇s imperial exam system. It is argued that the writer demonstrates a sense of anger in his writing and that the novel＇ s artistic values lie in the depiction of reality though imaginations and illusions.
