The energy consumption situation of Shanghai Sandmann Foundry Co.,Ltd. in recent years was introduced. It was pointed out that when comparing energy consumption, it＇s necessary to use the same energy consumption calculation method and the same conversion factor, otherwise the errors would be very big. Based on the energy consumption statistics,the main approaches for the iron casting production enterprises to reduce energy consumption are as follows：reducing the energy consumption for iron melting and temperature preservation;reconstructing casting production line;increasing production efficiency and capacity;persisting casting method and process improvement;strengthening quality control;and waste heat utilization. 11 energy-saving examples were itemized. Those examples indicated that Chinese casting production enterprises have big energy-saving latent capacity and many approaches.
