Gramophones and records as new carriers recording voices were soon understood and accepted by Chinese after they were introduced in China. They had exerted wide and sophisticated influence on social urban life. In the meantime,with various political powers stressing publicizing functions of records,the world of gramophone records was also the world of politics. As historical records,gramophone records not only mirrored the popular culture of modern cities but also many aspects of social changes in modern China.
