我国海域辽阔，海岛众多，是世界上海岛数量最多的国家之一。在漫长的历史长河中，我国先民在一万年前的新石器时代即开始认识海岛，开发海岛，利用海岛，并形成了约定俗成、层级清晰、普遍通用的海岛通名用词体系。这些通名用词，与汉字的造字方式紧密相连，具有很强的科学性，值得我们参考借鉴。

China has vast ocean and numerous islands and it is one of the largest island countries in the world. In the long history, our ancestors began to know islands, develop islands and utilize islands ten thousand years ago. They have established a conventional, clear hierarchy and universal islands＇ general name system. These general name terms are closely linked with Chinese characters and are very scientific, which are worthy of our attention.
