As a university library in Japan, how is it open to the public？ The article will introduce the actual situation about it from multi-ple perspectives, such as from the historical conditions and the current situations of the openness to society, as well as from the utilization of the out-of-school public to the university libraries in Japan. At the last part, it will put forward the reflection on the openness of univer-sity libraries in China.
