4,4＇- diisobutyl-2,2＇-bipyridine was synthesized from 4,4＇-dimethyl 2,2＇-bipyridine. This method simplified the experimental operation and improved the yield of target product. It laid a solid foundation for subsequent with 4,4＇-diisobutyl-2,2＇-bipyridine as ligands in the research of molecular magnetism.
