To study the effects of L-Arg and selenium supplementation to pregnant Hu Sheep on components, antioxidative capacity, IgG of eolostrum and birth weight of lambs, 20 pregnant Hu Sheep ewes with similar weight and estrus synchronization were selected and allotted randomly into 4 groups (five in each group, fed the same basal diets):Se group (diets adding 0.3 rng/kg of Se were fed),Arg group (intravenous injection of 70 mg/kg body weight of L-Arg per day), AS group(diets which adding 0.3 mg/kg of Se were fed and intravenous injection of L-Arg 70 mg/kg body weight simultaneously per day), control group. The results showed that:compared with control group ,the birth weight of lambs and milk protein content in Arg group and AS group increased by 16.2%, 11.3% and 15.8%, 13.3% respectively(P 〉 0.05),the ac- tivity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) of colostrum in Se group and AS group increased significantly(P 〈 0.05).The activity of GSH-Px of colostrum in Arg group increased significantly(P 〈 0.05).The levels of IgG of colostrum in Se group,Arg group and AS group increased by 12.7%, 16.6% and 22.6% respectively (P 〉 0.05 ).In conclusion, supplementation of L-Arg and selenium to pregnant Hu Sheep increased the anti-oxidative capacity of eolostrum, the content of milk protein and IgG, and the birth weight of lambs.
