Studies of children's game develop quickly in the 20th century. During this stage, game study transformed from puresubjective thinking to empirical study. The history of children's game study development in the west can be roughly dividedinto the following 4 stages (1) after World War I to before World War Ⅱ, differentiation and alienation; (2) after World War IIto end of 1950 's, short term of stagnation; (3) beginning of 1960's to end of 1980 's, revival and multielement; (4) beginning of1990 's to the present, integration of the traditional and contemporary studies. This paper reviews the features of game studyshown in the four stages, hoping to provide the basis for the reform of preschool education curriculum in China.
