北朝时期国家陷于分裂、少数民族内迁,引发了北朝社会信仰心理的嬗变。针对这些变化佛教进行了传教策略上的调整,突破传统的传教方式开启了迎合社会信仰心理,利用神异传播佛教的先河。佛图澄作为运用这种传教方式的第一人,其传教活动在当时获得极大成功。

Due to national disruption and minority migration, social faith of Northern Dynasties gets changed. Accordingly, missionary strategies for Buddhism are also adjusted. The adjustment includes breaking through the traditional missionary methods, catering to social beliefs, and adopting the Witchcraft to spread Buddhism.
