Wallace Stevens is one of the most important modem poets in 20th century America. His poems are noted for abstractness. He intended to reveal the mental exploration of modem people after they lost their faith. Stevens accepted the fact that the God had died therefore attempted to reconstruct the order with his po- etry and poetic imagination. The ecological connection between mankind and wild nature might be the most im- portant theme in his poetry, i.e. to relocate nature through his poetry and imagination. This thesis tries to ex- plore the interaction between human imagination and nature in Stevens' poems, thus to better understand the poetic essence and the nature concept of the poet.
