摘要
《最蓝的眼睛》反映出美国梦的内涵与本质,佩科拉追求的"最蓝的眼睛"实际上是其一个最原始的"美国梦"。佩科拉追求的是平等与公正,梦想成为美国土地上的一员,梦想拥有幸福的家庭,但是由于种族至上意识的盛行,佩科拉的梦想注定以悲剧收场。
Through the analysis on the text of the novel, The Bluest Eye and the connotation and essence of American Dream, the paper reveals that Pecola＇ s eagerness. The bluest eyes is actually her pursuit of a sim- ple American dream, namely, with a strong desire to become one member of American society and have a happy family. Pecola hungers for equality and justice. However, her dream ends up with a tragedy because of racial discrimination prevailing in America.
