Faulkner shows excellent narrative skills in A Rose For Emily, including complex narrative time order, mutable narrator and narrative perspective, which makes the story to indicate opening of a post modern novel. This paper analyzed the reliability of the narrator by a narrative theory and proposed another kind of understanding on the murder motive of Emily Greer Xun, that is, she killed the man initiatively due to her inside crisis, rather than a decline of her marriage.
