陕西是华夏文化的发祥地,曾经是中国十几个封建王朝的建都之地,周秦汉唐曾是中国政治、经济和文化的中心,也是中国古代出版事业重要的发源地。近代的陕甘宁边区一度也是中华民族解放运动的中心,尤其是革命圣地延安堪称中国共产党新闻出版的基地。历史悠久、内涵丰富的陕西出版,无论是在中国古代出版史上,还是在近现代出版史特别是革命出版史上,都占有极其重要的地位。以《陕西出版史志资料》辑刊为代表的一批史料编撰、整理成果,展现了陕西地区的出版历史与成就,为大型史志著作的编写以及当今的出版实践提供了重要的资源。
