Objective To investigate the effect of alprostadil combined with urokinase in the treatment of transient ischemic attack (TIA). Methods One hundred and thirty-seven hospitalization patients with TIA were selected and divided into observation group( n = 85 ) and control group( n = 52). The patients in control group were given conventional treatment; based on this, the patients in observation group were given alprostadil. The effective rate, speed of blood flow of the two groups were observed after treatment. Results The total effective rate of the observation group and control group was 85.9% and 71.2% respectively, there was statistic difference between the two groups ( P 〈 0.01 ). Before treatment, there was no statistic difference of the speed of blood flow in affected side and uninjured side of the patients between the two groups(P 〉0.05). Compared with before treatment, the speed of blood flow of anterior cerebral artery (ACA) and middle cerebral artery (MCA) in affected side of the observation group were increased after treatment, there were significant differences (P 〈 0. O1 ). There was no statistic difference of the speed of blood flow of ACA and MCA in uninjured side of the patients in observation group before and after treatment( P 〉 0.05 ). There was no statistic difference of the speed of blood flow of ACA and MCA of the patients in control group before and after treatment (P 〉 0. 05 ). Conclusion Alprostadil can improve the speed of blood flow in MCA and ACA. Alprostadil combined with urokinase can improve the total efficiency rate of the treatment of TIA.
