My Notions about Tradition and Contemporary

传统和当代不是一个能截然分开的东西.我感觉自己一直是一个“脚踏两只船”的人,对于传统,我理解的就是技术的传承,对于当代,我理解的就是艺术家的社会责任,是有的放矢的表达.

Tradition and contemporary cannot be separated.Tradition means to inherit technical issues,contemporary means the social responsibilites of artists,it is a kind of expression with definite target.Technical issues are the explorations of ontology languages.In China,the sculptural skills are really backward and primary. Colleage is a place to learn how to inherit, without inherition,colleage will be disappeared.Students should know how to inherit the skills,in other words,to inherit the ontology languages of sculpture.Surely,they should focus on current society,and to take social responsibilites.Art had been explained and changed again and again to satisfy the need of reality.History always stands for the exact understandings in certain period,history is the history of contempoary, but as an artist,I hope to make the personalized history to be a kind of history to everyone,I should start from my own feelings.
